SE Area Art Walk: March 5 & 6, 10 –5

Desert Mountain, 15 x 21″,  hand-painted and dyed silk, machine stitched.

The South East Area Art Walk,  Saturday, March 5th, and Sunday the 6th from 10  to 5,  has once again allowed me to join its ranks.

My studio, at 1405 SE Main Street in Portland Oregon, is two blocks outside the primary area of the traditional art walk, so there was a lot of discussion about boundaries when I first approached the organizers. But they welcomed me into their ranks and continue to allow some outsiders to slip onto the map.  I’m ramping up my preps.

Desert Mountain, above, is the first piece I’ve gotten ready for the art walk. I’m putting up a lot of smaller textiles this year, cleaning out the storage area, lowering my prices, hoping to make room for newer pieces. I will also be selling  plein air paintings, of course, as well as abstract pieces, both textiles and oils. Keep checking this blog (or sign up for notification) to see some of what’s available.

I am planning to sell off this blog to those who can’t make the Art Walk  (hello, Portland Maine). These will be pieces that can be easily shipped, mostly textiles, and will go up for sale on March 1. I’ll have a separate Page for sales, so they’ll all be found in one place.

Hope you can make it to southeast Main on March 5 or 6. Drop in for cookies and company, even if you aren’t interested in buying any art. Talking is one of my joys, and if we can talk about art, all the better!

  1. Gosh I like this piece, June. Are you sure you want to defect from textile work completely?? 😉

Also commenting to see if that part of the blog is working properly…

  2. Gee, thanks Sheila,

I think I need to pull back on my goals for my textile art. I just can’t handle the big pieces of fabric anymore. And I get impatient with the slow processes. I guess I spend about the same amount of time painting, but it feels different to me right now. But who knows what the future will bring. I will keep your question in mind (it’s one that I’ve been thinking about for at least five years….)
