Beatty Mountain from the Goldwell House (Nevada Series)
12" x 16" Oil on board 2009 Nevada Series, plein air The wind blows a lot in Nevada. At the Goldwell House, where I was staying for the Workspace Residency, there was an entryway with windows on three sides. One afternoon, when I simply couldn't face the wind anymore, I took my oil paints to the entry way and there found the Mountain that hovers over Beatty, glowing in the late afternoon sun. It was good to sit inside and hear the wind rattling away, while I painted an outdoor scene. |
